Brussels, beyond my home, what is it?
This city is not only about recognizable landmarks like the Atomium, Manneken Pis, and the Grand Place, the Cinquantenaire, Flagey and Jourdan squares, the markets of Matongé, or Sainte-Catherine.
Brussels is also a city experienced through sensations, speeds, silences… emotions, colors sometimes too vivid, other times barely visible, contrasts that run deep as they move through its streets and through its rémanences.
My nocturnal wanderings are my process. Albums in my ears, peripheral vision on alert, and at the slightest detail awakening my senses, the shutter is released instantly, without looking for the perfect frame. Photography, for me, is a raw and spontaneous gesture, which becomes a form of introspection. Reflection comes afterward, in what the images reveal of the city. Its essence lies in the sincerity of the moment.
Les Nuits de BX are my way of translating this. It is not a cartography, but an intimate, sensorial experience of my city.
